2011 PANPA Newspaper of the Year award finalists announced

Newspaper of the Year trophy

FINALISTS for the 2011 Newspaper of the Year awards have been released today by the Newspaper Publishers’ Association.

The awards focus on newspapers, websites, photography, marketing and excellence in print and production. The Newspaper of the Year awards gala night will be held at Dockside, Darling Harbour, Sydney, on August 18.

Newspapers from across the Asia-Pacific region entered the awards this year with a strong presence from South-East and North-East Asia, and New Zealand.

A total of 71 judges from the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia and New Zealand have now made their decision.

PANPA chief executive Mark Hollands said: “This has been the largest awards ever – more than 1,000 entries. The response is an indication of colleagues working harder than ever and believing it is more important than ever to take part in industry events.”

This year’s awards have been expanded and now total 66. Each category was judged by two or more individuals. Most categories were judged by three industry professionals, or individuals in allied disciplines, such as marketing.

Do not delay in booking a ticket to the Gala Dinner. We will sell-out.

*Finalists have been selected from closeness of scores. ‘Highly commended’ awards are based on judges’ personal recommendations and will be announced on the night. Categories segmented by audited circulation/ frequency
