NPA statement on Media Accreditation for Rugby World Cup

The Newspaper Publishers’ Association has today released a statement on the ongoing negotiations over media accreditation for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, which begins in New Zealand in less than three weeks.

Australian newspaper publishers have come to a stalemate with the organiser, the International Rugby Board, over demands that they contract away rights of fair use under the Copyright Act.

Fair use in New Zealand is slightly different, and therefore newspaper publishers in NZ have come to separate decisions that they can attend and report news from the tournament without compromise.

Please see the Statement regarding the Australian newspaper publishers.
