Stevens takes Manly Daily helm

New Manly Daily editor Melissa Stevens said she’s looking forward to returning to a community paper

SYDNEY local paper, the Manly Daily, has a new editor.

Melissa Stevens takes the reins of the NewsLocal publication, replacing Luke McIlveen, who was appointed editor of popular Australian news website, news. com.au, earlier this month.

Ms Stevens, currently the deputy managing editor of The Daily Telegraph and a former editor of mX, told News Now she had an affinity with community papers.

She began her career at West Australian Newspapers on its regional and suburban mastheads.

“They’re a very particular beast,” she said. “There’s usually great camaraderie and I am looking forward returning to that environment.”

Ms Stevens said she aimed continue the tradition of the Manly Daily, by “delivering the stories that matter to the community”.
