ENTRIES are open for the annual News Awards, with a number of new categories.

The in-house News Limited honours have recognised outstanding journalism at the company since their inception in 2005, but have been broadened this year to include all employees.

There are 16 categories to reward excellence across all divisions. There are also specific categories for journalism, sales and creative excellence.

The Rising Star Award has been included to recognise employees under the age of 30 with less than five years in the industry, who have made a significant contribution to the business.

The Chief Executive’s Award will honour an employee whose work epitomises News’ core values.

The Innovation of the Year category will highlight a product development which has delivered significant benefit to any area of the business.

News Limited CEO Kim Williams says the decision to broaden the awards reflects the company’s shared pursuit of excellence and integrity.

The deadline is Monday, August 13, 2012.
