Advertiser Newspaper and Messenger Newspapers merge in South Australia

Ish Davies will be the managing director of News Limited's South Australian operations

NEWS Limited has merged its South Australian operations into one publishing unit incorporating Advertiser Newspapers and Messenger Newspapers.

While editorial staff have been operating as a combined “one city, one newsroom” unit since August last year under regional editorial director Mel Mansell, this week’s announcement completes the merger and incorporates finance and advertising divisions.

Similar regional publishing divisions were implemented last year in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

Current Advertiser Newspapers managing director Ish Davies will take on the role of regional director across the merged business. He will report to News Ltd’s newspaper group director – commercial and operations, Jerry Harris.

Messenger Newspapers published 13 community titles while Advertiser Newspapers is responsible for The Advertiser, The Sunday Mail and adelaidenow.com.au.
