THE current finance director of Britain’s Guardian Media Group – a company that has just reported a near $A300 million loss – is taking over as chief executive.
Andrew Miller replaces Carolyn McCall, who left GMG to run a cut-price airline.
Mr Miller has been running the company since her departure in April.
Chairman Amelia Fawcett said in a statement Mr Miller had “great financial acumen, an intimate understanding of GMG's portfolio and a full appreciation of our unique purpose and values”.
She added: "He has the ability, desire and vision to lead GMG through the next stage of its development and to ensure a sustainable future for our journalism."
Mr Miller had been head of finance for one of GMG’s subsidiaries, Trader Media Group. He has also worked at major consumer brands, Procter & Gamble and Pepsi Co.
